Persian Cat References
To All Considering Katsational:
I am a third generation Persian owner, and during the long line of ownership my family and I have felt the heartache of breeders who do not place the genetic well-being of a kitten above a "special color" or the almighty dollar. When my husband and I decided that we wanted a forever-family kitty, I began looking hard at the local selection of cage-free breeders.

In Ellie I found a breeder I can confidently say is knowledgeable and ethical enough to breed only the best standard of kitten. That she shows her cats and wins awards demonstrates her tenacious attitude toward furthering the best of the Persian line and not producing for profit.
Without pressuring me, Ellie addressed nearly a month of my questions and concerns via e-mail before we agreed that it was time I come and meet "the kids." On our first visit my husband and I met Ellie, saw the environment that the cats and kittens were raised in, and went home without a kitty to take our time and discuss which personality we liked and which kitty would suit our lifestyle. It was through our conversations about how impressed we were with Ellie and Maddie's wonderful disposition that we unanimously choose "Made in Heaven- Maddie". Maddie was not a young kitten, but a young adult cat. We know that we couldn't have made a better selection in breeder or cat. Ellie was available to us even after the adoption when we had questions about Maddie's care.
I urge you that if you are selecting a kitty from a breeder please do the following:
- Know your lifestyle and how it might change, envision a kitty with a personality that will be able to adapt to suit your family
- Know your lifestyle and how it might change, envision a kitty with a personality that will be able to adapt to suit your family
- Don't ever expect to leave a kitty behind should you move. It will and should become part of the family with needs and demands as well as lots of love to give
- Not all Persians have the same kind of coat, be realistic about how much time and attention you will be willing to give to grooming before you select your kitten
- Gage the breeder's attitude toward breeding, selling, and toward kitty health
- Ask the tough questions about diseases and care
- If possible take the whole family and go and visit the breeder and the kitties
- Have the kitty choose you as much as you choose it
My husband and I had high expectations of our breeder, and Ellie met those expectations. Our cat has exceeded any expectations and everyday she is more of a joy! I wish you the best as you go through this exciting process for yourself.
Best,
